Why a Systematic Inspection Beats a Walk-Around
Most RV accidents and roadside breakdowns trace back to a short list of preventable causes: aged tires, dry bearings, weak brakes, and propane or electrical faults. None of them are visible in a casual walk-around, and all of them are cheap to catch early. This is the 15-point sequence our technicians run — the same one we recommend before every long trip and at least once a season.

Tires & Date Codes
Tread depth, sidewall cracking, inflation to load, and manufacture date — RV tires age out before they wear out.

Brakes
Pad/shoe condition, drum and rotor wear, hydraulic or electric operation, and breakaway switch function on towables.

Wheel Bearings & Hubs
Play, noise, and grease condition — the failure that strands more trailers than any other.

Suspension & Frame
Leaf springs, shackles, wet bolts, equalizers, welds, and rust — checked with weight on and off the axles.

Hitch & Coupler
Ball, coupler, kingpin or pin box wear, safety chains, and weight-distribution hardware.

Propane System Leak Test
Manometer pressure-drop test of the entire LP system, plus regulator condition and hose age.

LP & CO Detectors
Function test and expiration check — detectors expire after 5–7 years and can fail silently.

Smoke Detector & Fire Extinguisher
Alarm test, extinguisher charge and date, and confirmation it’s actually mounted where you can grab it.

12-Volt Electrical
Battery health and charge rate, converter output, and connection corrosion at every high-load point.

120-Volt Electrical
Shore power cord and inlet condition, outlet polarity and GFCI function, and breaker panel inspection.

Roof & Seals
Membrane condition and every sealed penetration — the source of nearly all serious water damage.

Windows, Doors & Compartments
Seal condition, latch function, and emergency exit operation — tested, not assumed.

Slide-Outs & Awnings
Full-travel operation, seal wipe condition, motor and gear health, and fabric inspection.

Plumbing & Water Heater
System pressure test, pump operation, water heater function and anode condition, and valve operation.

Exterior Lights & Signals
Every running, brake, turn, and clearance light, plus the 7-pin connection on towables.

When to Get Inspected
